Barese Swiss Chard is commonly grown for baby greens. But when grown to maturity, they have a rich, spinach like flavor. The leaves are bright green, glossy, and wavy at the edges. Swiss chard is high in potassium, and is very versatile, it can be baked, creamed, and used in salads and soups. Swiss chard grows best in areas that are not too hot, at over 100 degrees F Swiss chard will start to struggle. They can handle some light frost. Start the seeds indoors and transplant outside when heavy frosts have ceased. Barese Swiss Chard can also be direct sown in the mid spring or late summer.
